1976年産婦人科医としてキャリアを始める。学位取得後関連病院で臨床研修を積んだ後大学で婦人科腫瘍の研究を行う。助教授を経て盛岡赤十字病院第一産婦人科部長、副院長をへて2014年から院長。産科医療に力を注ぎ平成28年9月産科医療功労者厚生大臣表彰。岩手県産婦人科医会会長を務める。
