大阪医科大学卒業後1983年より外科医としての道を歩み始め、研さんを重ねる。
1991年和歌山県立医科大学への転勤後は肝胆膵外科医を志す。
2004年にはUCLA Liver Transplantation Centerに留学した。
2011年には大阪医科大学一般・消化器外科学教授に就任。
肝がんの手術および肝胆道疾患の腹腔鏡下手術を専門としている。
