1983年に東京大学医学部を卒業後、整形外科医としてのキャリアをスタート、東京大学整形外科で研鑽を積んだ後、1997年より横浜労災病院整形外科部長、2010年より副院長を務める。専門は、末梢神経外科、手外科。木を見て森も見る医療を心がけている。日本手外科学会副理事長、日本整形外科学会副理事長を歴任。2019年に日本末梢神経学会理事長に就任。現在は後進の指導、育成に尽力している。
