近年、脳神経医科領域では顕微鏡手術による技術の発達が目覚ましく、さまざまな病気で、治療が確立されています。しかしながら、依然として、手術や治療に際しては患者さんが著しい負担を強いられる病気も存在しています。私が医者として脳神経外科を志したのは、繊細な手術手技を必要とされる領域の1つである脳の手術に習熟したいと思ったからです。現在は、神経内視鏡やコンピュータグラフィックスなどの新しい技術を応用して、少しでも患者さんの負担を軽減し、かつ、新しい治療の開発に取り組んでいます。
